Former Toon Star Wants Keegan To Forget Mercenaries!
"The fans are just as fantastic as they were when I played there, and the main talking point at the Arena on Sunday was just which players the club are going to sign.
"I must admit that I am as much in the dark as anyone else.
"But I only hope that Newcastle sign players who will wear the shirt with pride.
"What they don't want is a bunch of mercenaries who are only going to St James's Park for the money.
"I spent three years there and I know that the fans want players who they can relate to. Players who understand the city and what Newcastle United is all about.
"I keep hearing that Kevin Keegan is frustrated because his hands are tied in the transfer market, but I can only hope they are not tied too tightly.
"Obviously, he not only needs some new players but he needs quality players. On Sunday the fans were asking me who I would sign for Newcastle and all I could do was to say - just where do you start?"

Liverpool-born Mick was quite a character. Smallish for a centre-forward but big around the waste. Scored 4 goals on his debut v Leeds and was a big favourite with the crowd. Formed a great partnership with Mark McGhee. Went to Coventry City.
