Freddie Woodman has been asked about his future with Newcastle United .
The youngster was one of the heroes for England Under-20s as they beat Venezuela in the World Cup final with Woodman saving a second half penalty to hand England the trophy.
Woodman spent last season on loan at Kilmarnock in the Scottish Premiership but must now wait to see what United do next.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph after the game, Croydon-born Woodman said: “I am not sure what will happen at Newcastle.
“I am just waiting for them to tell me when I am back in pre-season.
“I am a Newcastle player and my goal is to play for Newcastle one day.”
The victory was recognised by England boss Gareth Southgate too.
Southgate is Woodman’s Godfather with the former Crystal Palace star good friends with ex-Newcastle goalkeeper coach Andy Woodman.
Speaking after the World Cup final Southgate said: “It is brilliant for all of the players and all the staff that are there.
“There are so many different areas we need to commend and congratulate so hopefully everybody back home takes enormous pride in it.”
