Dwight Gayle says he is confident he can score the goals required to help Newcastle survive in the Premier League.
The 27-year-old joined the Magpies last summer, having endured a mixed three years at Crystal Palace, where he struggled to establish himself as a regular.
Following his troubles in the top flight, dropping down to the Championship clearly suited Gayle as he netted 23 goals to help Rafa Benitez's men top the standings.
Having people who can score is always the key for clubs coming up to the Premier League and with him also donning the Magpies' iconic number nine shirt, the former Peterborough man has plenty of pressure on his shoulders.
The man himself though insists he is not worried and says he is only thinking about giving his all for the team.
"You obviously know the history of it and how much people rely on the number 9 to do well," he told the Chronicle Live. "I know I have a lot of weight on my shoulders and I will have to do well next season.
"As I said last season I don't have too many targets, just to try my best to go out and get as many goals as I can - then see where it takes me."
