Gazza Worries Grow After Another Suicide Attempt!
The Mail: "Gascoigne, who is back in England after a month-long European bender, banged on the entrance of the Metz Experience Pub for 20 minutes and even tried to use his own keys to unlock the door.
"After one final try at the pub's backyard gate, he gave up and made his way to a nearby off-license.
"The 41-year-old is back in his native Dunston, Gateshead, a week after he was treated in a Portuguese hospital for an apparent suicide attempt.
"He was taken to an A&E unit one night after he collapsed following a suspected overdose of drugs and alcohol.
"Police found him semi-conscious at a five-star hotel in Vilamoura in the Algarve following reports of a 'disturbance'.
"An ambulance took Gascoigne to Faro District Hospital, where he had his stomach pumped before being sedated."
Gascoigne was sectioned under the Mental Health Act in February, when police were called to the Hilton Hotel in Newcastle after he allegedly threatened staff.
Former Spurs team-mate Gary Mabbutt called for Gascoigne to be detained for his own safety or there could be a 'serious tragedy'.
Mabbutt: 'What I think is important for people to realise is that Paul is not a celebrity drunk. The fact of the matter is he's suffering from very serious illnesses.
'These illnesses mean that he honestly believes that his condition is nowhere near as grave as it really is.'
