Gazza Would Have Had The Skill Knocked Out Of Him!

Chris Waddle: "To be honest Sir Bobby was probably the only manager who could understand what myself, Gazza and Peter Beardsley were saying!
He was great with his players. Even if you had a bad game he was with you.

"That is why you wanted to try so hard for him.

"We had the talent, and he seemed to get the best out of us.

"I think he was rewarded by that.

"I am a great believer in players with raw skill. It is not encouraged now, and that is sad in this country.

"It is coached out of them and it is all about two-touch footballers - there is a lack of individual players in the great sides now.

"You look at players like Henry and Ronaldo who have been two of the best players in the Premier League in recent times.

"We are going to other leagues and other countries to buy them, they are producing them for us now. England no longer produces those sort of players.

"We used to and the other leagues came to us.

"I went to Marseille, Gazza played in Serie A and Glenn Hoddle went to Monaco.

"Then you had people like John Barnes, who I am sure could have played abroad, and without a shadow of doubt Peter Beardsley."

We have three copies of Jim Jeffrey's new book "Newcastle United - The 1968/9 Fairs Cup Story" (published by Breedon Books £14.99) up for grabs.

Those kind people at Breedon have given us the opportunity to give away the books if we run a competition.

Three questions:

1) Who was manager of Newcastle when we won the Fairs Cup?

2) Who was the Newcastle captain who was presented with the trophy?

3) Which Newcastle player (who appeared in the final) went on to manage the club?
