The Geordie accent doesn't seem as "cute" State-side as it does here in the UK.
Forget Sting suddenly claiming he's a Geordie "and proud of it".
Yes he is a Geordie, born north of the Tyne, but in his first autobiograpy he said those famous words: "I noticed no-one on TV spoke like me, and I was about ten when I realised that if I was to get on in this world I had to rid myself of my Geordie accent.
"I changed my accent, and I haven't regretted it since."
Cheryl Cole has been replaced on X Factor USA by Nicole Scherzinger.
According to reports, US producers have finally owned up to the fact that they're struggling to understand her accent as well as criticising her lack of "chemistry" with fellow judge Paula Abdul. Although one tabloid suggests that it's simply a case of Cheryl being home-sick.
Cole was last night reported to be “furious" at the shock sacking having given up her place on the UK X Factor judging panel to make her mark in the US.
According to US website TMZ: "She is royally pissed over how this situation was handled - and may sever ties with X Factor entirely."
