Brittain made eight first team appearances for Newcastle United, as he matured through the ranks, but he has found it tough going since he left St James' Park looking for first team action.
He started his Toon career with two substitute appearances in 2003/04, one league and one UEFA Cup. And the midfielder has joined Luton on loan from Ipswich Town, who have ended his contract.
He spent most of last season on loan at Yeovil Town.
