Geordie Boys Get It Right!

Ched Evans scored two minutes into his full Norwich debut to help them to a victory over Plymouth which moves them off the bottom of the Coca-Cola Championship.

The 18-year-old striker - on loan from Manchester City - was one of a series of changes made by Glenn Roeder and he instantly vindicated his manager's decision with a second-minute strike to send a packed Carrow Road delirious.

Norwich extended their lead after the break when Darren Huckerby scored from the spot after being brought down in the area by Paul Connolly.

Krisztian Timar's 88th-minute header halved the deficit for Argyle, but Norwich held on to record an invaluable three points.

 

PRESTON NORTH END - ALAN IRVINE

Preston boss Alan Irvine broke his managerial duck as goals from Patrick Agyemang, Simon Whaley and Lewis Neal helped the Coca-Cola Championship strugglers defeat in-form Hull.

Irvine endured three successive defeats after succeeding Paul Simpson at Deepdale, but finally got a first win under his belt thanks mainly to two goals in seven second-half minutes.

Agyemang opened the scoring on the hour with a rasping drive before Whaley's close-range deflected shot shortly after gave goalkeeper Boaz Myhill no chance.

Substitute Neal added a third late on with his first touch as Preston stole a march to a first win in seven attempts.
