Wolfsburg have now entered the race to sign Newcastle United linked defender Kenny Lala from Strasbourg during the summer transfer window.
Lala, who joined Strasbourg from Lens in the summer of 2017, attracted attention from the Magpies during the winter transfer window in January.
The Premier League side eventually opted to invest in a loan deal for Antonio Barreca from Monaco on deadline day, but they have been tipped to be back in for a full-back this summer.
Lala continues to have admirers and if Newcastle do choose to go back in for him they will face competition, with Wolfsburg the latest club to eye a bid, according to French magazine Le 10 Sport.
The Bundesliga outfit have now joined the race alongside other interested parties, including Lazio, Bordeaux and Saint-Etienne, to snare Lala away from Strasbourg.
Lala is believed to be valued in the region of €10m to €12m by Strasbourg and as such, other Ligue 1 clubs like Bordeaux and Saint-Etienne may struggle to afford him.
The 27-year-old recently admitted that he would ideally want to leave Strasbourg for a club plying their trade in Europe.
Wolfsburg are currently two points adrift of Hoffenheim, who occupy the final European berth in the Bundesliga table, with just five games remaining this season.
