At present, midfielder Jack Colback and defender Steven Taylor are the only Tyneside-based players in the Magpies’ first-team.
And Ginola told talkSPORT that, during his time at St James’ Park, having a number of born-and-bred Geordies in the dressing room was key to helping other players settle and perform for their passionate fans.
Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, the Frenchman said: “Newcastle need stability. There have been too many managers, too many people involved and most of the time wrong people.
“I think Newcastle need to bring in some very interesting Geordies!
“When I was playing for Newcastle we have three or four Geordie guys in the dressing room, and they made sure we all understood what playing for Newcastle United and living in the city meant.
“At historic clubs like Newcastle, it’s all about roots. It’s all about tradition.
“If you want to rebuild a place, you have two options.
“You either go back to the foundation and start all over again, rebuild from ashes , or create from what you’ve got, you refurbish.
“But I don’t want to see Newcastle just refurbish. I want them to smash the whole place down and start from scratch.
“If you then build the foundation, the walls and the roof, it will be more solid and more consistent.”
