The Irishman sustained the injury during preparations for the Euro 2004 qualifier with Russia, which ended in a 1-1 draw and with Given sustaining a neck injury as well.
A club spokesman said: "Shay will have a scan on his knee on Tuesday, but we do not foresee any problem with regard to the match at the weekend.
"He came back with discomfort in his neck and knee, but the scan is purely precautionary."
If any serious damage is revealed it will mean that Given’s amazing run of playing in 93 consecutive Premiership games will come to an end.
