Given Wants New Contract

The Irishman is happy with his form and life at St James' Park, but is frustrated by the club's continued failure to secure silverware.

The 29-year-old's consistent excellence has led to talk of interest from Arsenal, but this has not spurred Newcastle into action as Given is still waiting on a new offer.

"I don't know if there is a timescale for contract talks because you need to ask the chairman that," said Given. "But as far as I'm concerned, nothing has been mentioned yet.

"In an ideal world I'd like to win trophies at Newcastle.

"This is my ninth season here and I've strong feelings for the club and I'd like to be offered a new contract."
