The Argentinian was an unused substitute as his country beat Germany 3-1 in Frankfurt last night.
Coloccini has caused concern in the Toon camp every since he limped off against Cardiff City during the dire 4-1 defeat last weekend.
Coloccini: “I hope this week can be one we can enjoy.
“I had some tiredness in my legs at Cardiff, but everything is OK.
“I always try my best for the teams I play for.
“To be called up for my country again means Newcastle are doing well and I have done well for United.
“It means so much for me. It was nice news when I first heard about it.
“However, we have a big season ahead now.”
