Good Players MUST Play In Their Favoured Position!
Pompey manager Harry Redknapp: "It's not really about systems at all. It is about good players playing in their best positions.
"We changed it again to 4-4-2 because we hadn't created anything very much in the first half (v Blackburn) but we've played the other way (4-3-3) all through the successful run we've been having and scored seven goals against Reading playing that way.
"Chelsea scored six the other day with just one player up front. Goals can come from anywhere if you get enough movement.
"It's about front people wanting to get in the box and score; it's about midfielders wanting to get into the box and score; it's about wide players wanting to get in there."
David Nugent had a big opportunity against Blackburn and if he had stuck it away maybe it would have boosted his confidence, given him a lift.
"I don't know if that's the problem with him. He's been used to starting at other clubs but to be fair he's not played at this level before and has good players keeping him out.
"Hopefully, his chance will come again if he works hard but Benjani has been playing well up front and before him Kanu was doing well.
"Kanu came on for the last few minutes against Blackburn and stuck away his chance well enough but he hasn't started since he scored the winner against Blackburn away five weeks ago.
"He's still not quite there with his knee. I decided even 45 minutes would still be too much for him in midweek but we miss Kanu - he's a terrific player.
"Newcastle are strong at home but we've won our last three away and we'll go up there on Saturday and try to make it four. We are still a good side."
