The Blackpool loan midfielder arrived last week from Newcastle United, where he has seen his rise to stardom stall in a dramatic fashion.
He claims "I feel I’ve done myself justice" in the last 12 months, but few Newcastle fans would agree.
Gosling made his Blackpool debut as a substitute in Saturday’s 0-0 draw at Charlton, less than 24 hours after putting pen to paper, and he knows this is chance he cannot afford to throw away.
Dan Gosling: “I don’t want to be the forgotten man of football.
“This is the perfect place for me to get back playing and show everyone what I can do.
“It’s been a hard couple of years. I’ve been working so hard at Newcastle but I just haven’t been able to get in.
“In the games I played, in the Europa League and League Cup, I feel I’ve done myself justice. Hopefully I can show everyone what I can do here.
“We’ll see what happens in the long-term. Hopefully I’ll do well, the team will do well and we’ll see.
“If all goes well I’d love to extend this until the end of the season.
"It wasn’t a hard one for me. Once I knew of Blackpool’s interest, I went to Newcastle and told them to make it happen.
"This move is in everyone’s best interest, so I’m really happy.
“I like to chip in with a few goals but it’s more important to keep pushing up the league table. We are in the top six and hopefully we can stay there.
“Paul Ince was a great, great player and hopefully I will learn a lot from him.
“He is a big factor why I chose to come here.
“I got the call on Friday morning, got the train down to London on my own and only met the lads the night before the game.
“The lads have been great with me here so far. It was tough on Saturday but I really enjoyed it. It’s the first time I’d played in the League since I played for Plymouth (2006-8).
“But I know the Championship is very tough.”
