Gosling is in desperate need of first team football, and his representatives are understood to have contacted several Premier League and Championship clubs to send him out on loan.
However, his weekly wage of around £25,000 will put off many cash-strapped clubs.
Gosling has seen his big move to Tyneside fail to take off.
He was signed on a four-year contract in 2010 while still recovering from a cruciate knee ligament problem but has never been used regularly by Alan Pardew.
