The 19-year-old played 38 games in the Championship on loan at Watford last season, scoring five goals. He has also had a loan spell at Scunthorpe United.
Other loan signings Newcastle have been linked with include Manchester City's Vladimir Weiss, Manchester United's Danny Welbeck and Tom Cleverley, and Lansbury's Gunners team-mate Jack Wilshire.
