Danny Guthrie:“Newcastle was a bit of a rollercoaster with five managers.
"However, the last year was really good and I’ve nothing but great things to say about the club.
"Relegation in 2009 was awful. That year we had a squad of big names who just didn’t do it.
“In the last couple of years the squad hasn’t been filled with massive names, but the team has been better.
“No one wants to go through that and it was a tough time.
“I would love to say they could, but I don’t think they can purely because of the finances that other clubs can put into their teams.
“They can’t compete at that level and it will be difficult if one of the top-four clubs want their players.
“I know the way the team play and they have some top players.
“What they have that we don’t, is that they know how to win a game.
“They can win ugly, which we can’t do at the minute. It’s a great asset to have.
“The manager here is trying to get us to play a certain way and we’re trying to get used to a way of playing.
“I just want to get on the ball as much as I can and try and dictate the game. I would love to score more goals and that’s something that I should be better at, and what the manager wants me to prove.”
