Newcastle had a difficult period from Boxing Day to three weeks ago, and many supporters called for the player's return.
That still looks very unlikely, but the good news was published on Twitter on Monday when he announce (in Spanish) "Today I was given a medical discharge.
"Thank you very much to all who accompanied me at this time, especially my family, my parents, brothers, godmother, friends and (partner) Alejandra Maglietti."
Gutierrez joined Newcastle from Real Mallorca in July 2008 and became known as Spiderman for wearing a Spiderman mask when he scored.
However the Premier League put the block on it, saying "no player can carry a maskl onto the field of play".
