Highly-rated Massaido Haidara is not short of options should he choose to leave France.
Haïdara, 20, has played almost 30 times in Ligue 1 after signing his first professional contract in 2011. Newcastle are believed to have submitted a bid in the region of €2.5 million for the French Under-21 international, but Nancy are believed to be holding out for closer to their €4 million valuation.
Speaking to Eurosport, Haïdara said: "I have not been contacted. Newcastle could interest me. It wouldn't bother me to play there, moving to a club where there are already a lot of French speakers would help me settle in.
“I have a preference for England. This is the championship that attracts me. I'm not into the idea of going at all costs. I will leave if there is a good proposal for me and my club. I'm twenty-years-old and not in such a hurry to leave. Nancy gives me the opportunity to play and it's important at my age.”
Haïdara also refused to rule out a move to Serie A, amid reports that Roma were also interested in securing his services.
Commenting on links to the Giallorossi, he said: "I'm not closed to the idea. Roma is a very good team, so why not play for them?"
