Clark red card could prove costly
Newcastle United and Norwich City are locked at 0-0 at half-time in Tuesday evening’s clash at the foot of the Premier League.
The Magpies, looking for their first Premier League win of the season, got off to the worst possible start when Ciaran Clark received a red-card after just 9 minutes for pulling back Teemu Pukki. Clark, returning to the starting line up today due to Lascelles’ suspension made a poor decision to pull back the Norwich striker outside the penalty area and left the referee with an easy decision to make.
The dismissal forced Eddie Howe to bring on Fernandez for Fraser in a bid to shore up the back line and to their credit the 10 men gave as good as they got for the remainder of the first half. There has been little to trouble either keeper, but the home side have managed to pose a threat at times despite their numerical disadvantage.
A big 45 minutes to come at St James’ Park.
