On-loan defender Fitz Hall could return to the Newcastle squad for their trip to Home Park.

Hall, who joined on a short-term deal from QPR in January, has recovered from a hamstring injury and is on standby to take over from Fabricio Coloccini.

The Argentinian damaged a hamstring during Tuesday night's 2-1 win at Reading and is a doubt, although his condition is being assessed.

Hungarian Tamas Kadar is also in the treatment room as he attempts to shake off a thigh problem.

Long-term absentee Steven Taylor remains on the sidelines, although he was close to a return from a knee injury when reports surfaced of an alleged training ground incident in which it was claimed he had suffered a broken jaw.

Midfielder Luke Summerfield could go straight back into the Plymouth side for their must-win clash.

Summerfield is fit again following a hamstring injury and could earn an instant recall to Paul Mariner's side against the Magpies.

Mariner could also be boosted by the return of his talismanic skipper Carl Fletcher.

The midfielder has been out since the end of last month with a knee injury and then a calf injury but he may make the squad.

Defender Kari Arnason, who has been ruled out for six games by a hip injury, is now back to full fitness but winger Craig Noone (knee) is set to miss out again.
