Hammers Threw Anelka Into The Melting Pot
"And all United could do was hope that if West Ham do move in for Anelka, it will not stop the Dyer deal going through."
As it happens, the deal was tied up this afternoon. Dyer is now officially a West Ham player.

Dyer Signs For West Ham!
By Nu Mad Wednesday 15th August 2007
Kieron Dyer has held talks with West Ham ... AGAIN! And looks certain to sign for the East London side before the weekend.
It is an amazing u-turn, after both clubs blamed the other for the deal falling through last week.
Newcastle originally wanted £6million - £5million down and the rest on appearances. Now the deal is £6million - plus an extra £2million on appearances.
Despite West Ham saying the deal was dead, alarm bells started ringing at the weekend when they lost their opening game of the season.
According to several of this morning's newspapers Dyer is suffering from a liver condition which will mean that later in life he will need a transplant.
We have covered this many times over the last week, with some tabloids suggesting he failed his medical the last time he was Upton Park, which was not the case.
The issue is sure to be covered in full in the next few days, but the fact remains ... Dyer has played his last game for Newcastle.
