That one game has had the London media having a field day with stories that Shay Given is set for a showdown.
Harper has played in every Premier League game for Newcastle this season and he hopes it continues.
Harper Loyalty Pushed To The Test
Harper: "It has been difficult at times and I can't deny there have been times when I've questioned my decision to stay here.
"It's been very frustrating in the past when I've had so few opportunities to play and have spent almost an entire season sitting on the bench. Shay's fitness record and his form meant I couldn't get a run of games and that's hard to take as a footballer.
"I want to be playing week in, week out, just like everyone else, but there is only one spot in the side for a goalkeeper.

"I've never regretted staying at Newcastle as such, but there have been spells when I've been on the sidelines when the grass has certainly looked greener.
"It does cross your mind whether to leave when you aren't playing for so long. I do wonder what would have happened if I'd gone to another club.
"I love my training but it's difficult when you are not playing in matches at the end of it. It's been tough at times, particularly on a matchday, that's the hardest part.
"But I stayed because I wanted to play first-team football for Newcastle United and it's been great to be able to do that this season and last season. To get into the side and stay there is a massive boost.
"Last year was a big year for me, I played 25 games and I think that came at the right time. It was what I needed to show I hadn't made the wrong decision and to get the chance so early this season, I'm delighted.
"A lot of people have said the manager's decision to keep me in the team sends out the right signals. I've got the jersey and it's up to me to keep it. It will be down to me if I lose it and that's what you want in the team.
"I'm determined to hang on to the shirt, even if Shay is a friend. The long periods I've been on the bench have been the hardest period of my professional life and, now I'm in the team, I want to stay there.
"You do hear stories about goalkeepers at other clubs who don't get on, but Shay and I have been together for the best part of 10 years.
"We have a good relationship on and off the field. It's difficult when one has to be miss out on matchday, but we both know that is football and we are supportive of each other.
"Everybody dreams of playing for their country and I'm no different. If I'm playing every week at a big club like this, it would give me a fantastic opportunity, but I've got a battle to hold on to my place at Newcastle, let alone England."
