Steve Harper has told The Daily Star that Newcastle United will win against Manchester United at home this weekend.
Newcastle will take on United at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The Magpies are struggling at the moment and are as low as 16th in the league table, while Jose Mourinho’s side are currently second in the standings.
Former Newcastle goalkeeper Harper, 42, has predicted Rafael Benitez’s side to win against the Red Devils on Sunday.
Harper told The Daily Star: “The players will be up for it, the fans will be up for it and knowing the rivalry between the two managers, I’m sure Rafa will have a few tricks up his sleeve. So yes, I’m going for a home win – and another game to add to the collection.”
Harper’s prediction is quite bold, and perhaps not many Newcastle fans will be convinced.
True, the Magpies have home advantage and St. James’ Park can be intimidating for opposition sides, but United have one of the best teams in England and are in good form at the moment.
The most that Benitez’s side can hope for is a draw, and that too if they score an early goal.
With United pretty much out of the race for the Premier League title this season, Mourinho’s players will be determined to secure the second spot and will head into the match against Newcastle with confidence.
