Harper knows a shutout will see him go level with Carr after the Geordie stopper pulled off the feat 27 years ago in the old Second Division.
Following a 3-0 hammering at Filbert Street, United went on a decent run:-
Barnsley (H) 1-0 (Varadi)
Rotherham (A) 0-0
Oldham (H) 2-0 (Mills, Brownlie)
Chelsea (H) 1-0 (Waddle)
Crystal Palace (H) 0-0
Charlton Athletic (A) 1-0 (Waddle)
Wrexham spoilt the run when we lost 4-2 at the Racecourse Ground.
Kevin Carr: “Deep down I don’t think you ever want to give up a record – but if I did then I’d be happy to give it up for somebody like Steve Harper.
“He’s the club’s longest- serving player and has been there for so long.
“He deserves it after a great start to the season.
“It’s been a while since anybody got anywhere near it, maybe it is too long.
“I just wish Steve the best of luck and hopefully he gets through another 90 minutes without conceding, then at least we could share it!”
