Former Newcastle United forward Alan Shearer has been named the second-best centre forward in Premier League history.
Shearer spent ten seasons at Newcastle United after arriving at St James’ Park in 1996.
Four Four Two have complied a list of the top 30 Premier League forwards of all time, and the Newcastle United legend was second behind former Arsenal star Thierry Henry. Shearer still holds the Premier League record of 260 goals, with 112 of those coming whilst playing for Blackburn Rovers.
The former England international won the Premier League Golden Boot three times, with one of those coming during his debut season at Newcastle United.
It’s likely many Newcastle United fans would argue Shearer should have been named ahead of Henry, given he’s the all time top scorer in Premier League, and also given the individual awards he won.
Henry in his time at Arsenal was playing in a stronger team than Shearer did with Blackburn Rovers and Newcastle United, yet the Frenchman only won one more Premier League title.
