New boss to be in the dugout
Having tested positive for Covid-19 prior to last weekend’s match against Brentford, it has been a frustrating start for Eddie Howe in terms of getting hands-on as the new manager of Newcastle United.
However, there was some positive news on Friday as the club confirmed that Howe has completed negative Covid testing protocols and he will be in the dugout earlier than was expected, taking to the side-lines for Saturday’s lunchtime clash against Arsenal in the capital.
Magpies assistant manager Jason Tindall confirmed that Howe has been in constant contact with his coaching team throughout the week and has been analysing training sessions remotely but it will naturally be a big boost to have the boss back with the team.
Newcastle travel to Arsenal having fallen to the foot of the Premier League table last weekend and they have lost the last nine away matches against the Gunners.
