Ex-Magpies Steve Howey and Steve Harper attended as did his former international colleagues Ludek Miklosko and Juventus legend Pavel Nedved.
Srnicek died on 29 December aged 47, nine days after suffering cardiac arrest.
A memorial service will be held in Newcastle on Wednesday, 13 January.
"The outpouring of grief shown today was no surprise," Srnicek's agent Steve Wraith told the Newcastle Chronicle.
"From the working man to the international superstars we all came together as one to say goodbye to a very special man."
Srnicek became a big favourite with Newcastle fans during his first spell at St James' Park between 1991 and 1998.
He returned to the club on a season-long deal in September 2006 but was released in May 2007 after making 190 appearances across his two spells.
Srnicek also played for Sheffield Wednesday, Portsmouth and West Ham in England, and made 49 appearances for his country.
