Chris Hughton: “It was a special result, a special performance on a special day. The future does not concern me.
“My biggest thrill is winning games. The feeling after winning instead of losing changes your weekend. It is a long time since I felt as good as this, this regularly.
“Your weeks, days, months are much better when things are going well. But we are in a different league now. Most people expect us to be where we are now.
“I could not tell you if the fans chant my name. It is not something I worry about. If they are calling out the players’ names then we must be doing OK on the pitch.
“There has been an incredible amount of changes. Through all of that we have had to get on with it, and the last year has been a big challenge for a lot of people.
“Apart from these lads doing so well, what we are desperate to do is put the smiles back on the faces of these Newcastle supporters, who turn out in their thousands.”
