Andy Carroll: "I just felt a twinge in the groin as we were pushing forward to try and get a goal."
Chris Hughton: "He was assessed by us after Fulham on Sunday and felt no different to Saturday night.
"He is with England because it is the right thing to do and part of the protocol.
"From our feelings he has to be doubtful for Bolton, and if we had a game on Wednesday it certainly would be the case that he wouldn’t be playing.
"The most important thing for us is of course him playing in a black and white strip.
"We have got to make sure that we look after him this week to give him any chance of the weekend.
"That will be assessed over the next couple of days. Possibly he'll have that chance, but maybe not.
"He is a playing in very confident mood.
"He has added parts to his game that we have asked of him and of course the ultimate as a centre forward is scoring goals.
"We have said that he couldn't have done any more and I think it is very much an honour for him to be picked in that squad."
