The Wales striker was yesterday left out of City's squad for their Europa League qualifier against Timisoara despite there being room for two more players in the pool.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon today confirmed the club had approached City with a view to taking Bellamy back to Parkhead, but Sunderland boss Steve Bruce said: "There's a lot of clubs who would love Craig Bellamy. He's a fantastic player but whether it's possible, I'm not quite sure.
"I've been a big admirer of Craig's for a long, long time. If he's available, which it looks like he is, and if we could afford him, then I would love to bring Craig to the football club."
Although Sir Bobby Robson once said: "He can be gobby but he never ever gave me trouble", I fear Bellars is too much for Chris Hughton to handle ... even if he wanted him at Newcastle.
Hughton's laid-back attitude would be pushed to the limit, although I know many fans who would love to see Bellamy back in a black and white shirt.
He is head and shoulders better than any striker we have at the club.
