The two 18-year-olds could play as Chris Hughton has one eye on the Championship.
Striker Ranger was recruited from Southampton a year ago, and local lad Donaldson is an attacking midfielder who has already skippered the seconds.
Ranger has made three appearances from the bench this season while Donaldson has yet to make his first-team debut.
Chris Hughton: “Ryan certainly has the grounding to play up front.
“At this moment, I see him very much as an attacking midfield player. He has been very good in the first-team group in that position.
“Because of his grounding, though, never say never – and if there was a possibility to play him up front that option is there.”
Hughton could also call on teenagers Kazenga LuaLua, the younger brother of former Toon star Lomana, and Hungarian defender Tamas Kadar.
