The Canaries have secured just one success in all competitions since the turn of the year and are currently winless in their last four.
An alarming wobble has left them just one point above the drop zone and looking anxiously over their shoulder.
Manager Chris Hughton was told by the chairman "he will be OK as long as we don't drop into the relegation zone", but the former Newcastle boss' future is hanging by a thread.

Sebastien Bassong: "I think I am dreaming - it is a nightmare because I don't know how we could have lost this game.
"Maybe I am going to wake up and be on the pitch at 0-0 with a chance of winning the game, because the reality is that we lost it.
"As a team we have to try and improve our finishing, because obviously it is not working on the pitch.
"I can't say, 'It is just one of those days', because they have happened too often this season. That's the reality. In football the basics are to put the ball in the back of the net. If we do that we have a chance to win the game.
"If we don't score, no matter how good we are on the pitch, there is still a chance we will concede a goal - and that is what has happened for most of the season.
"The difference between the big teams and the lower teams is the winning mentality - things that aren't obvious but make the difference.
"If we want to keep improving, which we can, it is about looking in the mirror, being honest and asking how we can be better."
