Chris Hughton: "It goes without saying that the quicker a manager is appointed the better, so we all know where we stand.
"The only thing we can do is react to the circumstances of the moment and they're no different to what they were a few days ago.
"At some stage they will be resolved but at this stage nobody knows in what way they will be resolved.
"The contact I have had has not generally been in regards to what will happen in terms of my position.
"It's just in effect been to thank me for the job I'm doing.
"They know these are difficult circumstances and they have been quite brief conversations.
"In times like this you look for your experienced players, your Michael Owens, Nicky Butts, Shay Givens, Steve Harpers, and Geremis.
"These are experienced players who have seen managers come an go and therefore become even more important.
"I have spoken to them in these terms. We are aware of everything that has gone on off the pitch but know we can't affect it."
