Jonny Howson fired Leeds into the League One play-off final at Wembley with a stunning last-minute winner to break Carlisle hearts as Gary McAllister's side won 2-0 on the night and 3-2 on aggregate.
The young midfielder hauled the Yorkshire side back into the tie early in the first period and with the clock ticking down towards extra-time arrowed the winner into the bottom left-hand corner of the Carlisle goal from 15 yards.
Howson's double completed a surprise turnaround for Leeds, who had been outplayed in the first leg at Elland Road to trail 2-1 on aggregate ahead of Thursday's return match at Brunton Park.
McAllister declared his players delivered when it mattered most and dedicated Leeds' last-gasp victory to the club's fans.
McAllister: "I know what 40,000 of them sound like. I've been in front of them before and tonight again they were fantastic and the Leeds fans know that.
"That was for them tonight. The players would be first to admit that. It was a bit of a damp squib on Monday night at Elland Road, but I think the fans got the reaction they wanted.
"I'm very proud of the players and pleased for the players."
