Ian Rush: “The win against Cardiff helped Newcastle.
“They have had such a disastrous run of results.
“People say that Newcastle are the team you want to be playing at this stage in the season.
“They can’t get relegated and there’s not much to play for.
“But they will want to finish on a high.
“They beat Cardiff and Liverpool will be tough, but Newcastle will be looking to put on a show to finish the season off, especially for the away supporters.
“After the results Newcastle have had, a top-10 finish wouldn’t be bad. They are still ninth.
“It’s hard to say where they went wrong.
“Alan Pardew getting banned from the stadium maybe, but the supporters are always there.
“They have always been great supporters and they want to see entertainment.
“The people pay money to watch them and they want to see something back for that.
“There’s always been goals in this game.
“It’s one that Liverpool have plenty of a chance of winning, but I think this one will be a good game to watch.
“Football is a funny game.
“Look at Man City a couple of years ago or in 1989 when Arsenal beat Liverpool.
“You never know what can happen.
“Liverpool’s main thing will be to get three points in the bag.
“You never know with Big Sam Allardyce, he will set his team not to get beaten.
“With big Andy Carroll in there he will cause problems.
“If the Man City weakness is anywhere, it’s at the back.
“Maybe Andy can do Liverpool a favour.
“Kevin (Nolan) is a Scouser, but he’s also a winner and he will be doing everything he can to get a win for West Ham.
“Anything can happen.
“Go back to the start of the season, Cardiff beat Man City.
“As I say anything can happen.”
