Pardew fears the worst ... and it just shows how little control he has at the club.
At the end of the day, I wonder if he knows any more than the supporters, because Mike Ashley certainly doesn't put him in the picture.
Contacts we have with Carroll told us three days before his transfer to Liverpool that he was going - but I can tell you - Pardew didn't know!
The problem with Ashley has always been about communication. In simple words - THERE IS NONE!
He does what he likes ... when he likes ... and f*** the consequences.
Alan Pardew: “The speculation about Cabaye is right – he’s a top player and I wouldn’t expect no less.
“It’s good for his confidence.
“Of course I want to keep him. If one of the big clubs comes with a massive offer, we’ll have to react to that.
“As it stands at the moment, there have still been no offers.
“He remains our player, and myself and the fans would love to see him stay come September 2 (when the transfer window closes) and still be in a black and white shirt.
“He’s not caused me one problem, and he’s worked really hard.
“His professionalism has been brilliant, and our fans need to know that.
"However, having seen Andy Carroll sold on the last day of the transfer window, I'm taking nothing for granted with Cabaye.
“That’s a worry.
“We’ve had that before with Andy Carroll, and it was a tricky time to lose Andy when we did.
“We managed to overcome that, but you don’t want to make it a habit.”
