Cabaye, 28, is set to complete a move to Paris Saint-Germain today in a deal that will reportedly earn the club in the region of 20 million pounds.
Keen to quickly fill the gap left by Cabaye, Pardew confirmed the club are already looking to enact a contingency plan.
Oh God, we've heard all about Kinnear and "I have a plan!"
Alan Pardew: “I was obviously on the phone to the powers that be, particularly Joe and Mike and Lee Charnley and Graham Carr.
“Let’s get moving and see what we can get because we obviously had one or two targets we had earmarked if he went.
"We’re chasing those down. We looked different, a little bit different but in a good way. This club is never going to be about one player.
“For sure Yohan Cabaye is a great player, he would get in my all-time Newcastle top team.
"I was asking Tony Toward [Newcastle's team administrator] who else would get in there and he said Tony Green, so I will have to look him up!
"For us he was outstanding. We wish him the very, very best, and I hope our fans do to.
"We have to use that money wisely now -- like we did with Andy Carroll.
"That summer we brought in Yohan and a couple of others that took us forward.
"That is how we will have to break into the Champions League and use this money to good effect and make us better.”
