The 21-year-old, currently on loan to Bradford City, has suggested United’s failure to farm him out on loan to a Football League club earlier has held him back.
Jack Alnwick: "My future at Newcastle could be over. It’s a possibility.
“All I am focused on is doing well for Bradford and in terms of the summer that won’t be down to me it will be down to behind the scenes.
“I will let that take its own course.
“It’s really difficult. I’ve had to wait a few years now, you are looking at two or three injuries and that’s when you get your chance.
“It’s really hard.
“You do your work day in, day out but sometimes you have to rely on a little bit of luck.
“Most other goalkeepers go out on loan and make their mistakes in League Two where it is not highlighted as much.
“Whereas my first senior game was Premier League. Everything in the Premier League is highlighted.
“You are going to make mistakes, every young keeper is going to make mistakes but it’s all about learning from it and playing more games.
“I think there is a reluctance to put young keepers in.
“My ambition is to be England’s number one and number one at a Premier League club.”
