Armstrong bagged twenty goals for the Sky Blues on loan last season and Mowbray has made it clear that he would love to take Armstrong again on loan if the chance arises.
Speaking to the Coventry Telegraph, Mowbray said:“If they send him to League One I hope we would have a very good chance of having him back,” said Mowbray, “but there are at least a dozen other clubs interested in Adam Armstrong.
“If I was the manager of Newcastle United I think the next progression would be to put him at the next level up and see how he fares – can he score 20 goals in the Championship next year?
“If you don’t think he’s quite ready for you, you’d have to be careful where you put him because if he goes to a team that’s above you in the league your fans aren’t going to be very happy.
“But they could decide to send him to a team that they don’t see as a threat to them – if they seem a team that they think is going to be around the bottom half of the table this year they might want Adam to help them because he might score a few goals against some of their competitors.
“He’s their player – let’s wait and see what happens.”
