Newcastle bought the twenty four year old goalkeeper in the summer and instantly loaned him back to Nottingham Forest for this season.
Tim Krul is obviously Newcastle’s number one this season, and buying a player like Karl Darlow is going to put the Dutchman's position under threat.
It obviously means the end of Rob Elliot's Newcastle career ... unless Mike Ashley sells Krul, and don't rule that out.
There would be several interested clubs, and as Ashley says "every player has his price".
Tim Flowers (talking to the Nottingham Post): “He has to aim for the stars, but he’s a confident kid.
“Firstly he has to establish himself at Newcastle. Will he start there, next season? I don’t know.
“The be all and end all, at his age, is to be playing football every week and to be learning from that.
“He is not going to get into the England squad if he is not playing, so he will need to get into the team at the next level up.
”Karl can be very, very good. There is no question of that.
“And there will be a point in his career where he will look to get into the England set up.
“His next hurdle will be to get into the team in the Premier League.
“He is at a really good age and is just coming into his time. He is not there yet and it could be two or three years before he gets there.
“I don’t know what is in Newcastle’s mind. We know he is their player after this season.”
