Beckham won his 98th cap for England in Friday's 1-0 win over Austria and, let's be honest, he wasn't very good now was he?
Yes he found Crouch's head for the winner, but he looked a mile off the pace.
Some have argued there was no need for the Austria friendly, but if we learnt one thing ... it was how "out of condition" Beckham really is. And better learnt it on Friday, rather than next Wednesday, when the stakes are so high.
The LA Galaxy midfielder says he has no plans to quit international football and that he wants to continue playing for his country in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
Is 'Mickey Mouse' Beckham The Man For Wednesday?
Beckham: "I want to play in the next World Cup. That is a big goal for me and an enormous challenge.
"I believe I can do it. I wouldn't say it if I didn't mean it.
"Contrary to some people's claims, I didn't leave European football too early.
"I am still playing well and at a good standard. That's why I'm optimistic I can play in the 2010 World Cup.
"I won't retire. I will always make myself available for my country. That hasn't changed. I would rather be stuck on 99 caps and England qualify, than win 100 caps and we don't make it."
