DeAndre Yedlin shined in his first league start with Newcastle, but the U.S. Men’s National Team defender’s success may have come with a price.
The fullback created Newcastle’s lone goal in the 28th minute, but left the match in the second half due to injury. Yedlin pulled up with an apparent ankle injury, prompting a substitution in the 73rd minute.
Prior to the injury, Yedlin shined in the absence of Vurnon Anita, who served the second match of his three-game suspension.
The fullback created Newcastle’s first half finish, firing a ball across the box from the right side before Tommy Elphick turned it into his own net.
It all went wrong when he went off.
