Irish boss Giovanni Trapattoni recommended Given to a number of Italian clubs last year, commenting in September that in "personality and quality Shay is like Buffon."

Juventus's manager Claudio Ranieri knows all about Given, but reports from our guy at St James' Park is that Shay wants to stay in the Premiership.
