It is only confirming what all Toon fans know already ... but that isn't to say the situation could not be changed!
Get rid of ONE man - Mike Ashley - and we are half-way there.
It all depends on who comes in, and I don't go along with this idea of supporters buying in and running the show.
It's one thing scratching about and findind the £100m to BUY the club - but that just gets gets one problem out of the way - and makes us far more vulnerable to going into administration.
For one thing, who would FINANCE signings? Who would foot the bill if suddenly we slid into problems like Porstmouth or Crystal Palace?
All credit to the fans who are trying to buy out Ashley - they are least trying to do something - but the prospect frightens the shit out of me!
We need a saviour, and someone with big bucks. OK, it hasn't happened since the club has been on the market, but that isn't to say it WON'T happen.
Mike Ashley recently hired Graham Carr to fill the boots of Dennis Wise and scour the globe to unearth fresh talent.
Chris Hughton: “The reality is that it’s a different Newcastle to what it was a few years ago.
“Not just us, I think. Apart from a few clubs, the really big transfer fees are things that we will still see, but not with the regularity we’ve seen in the past.
“I think that’s not just about us – that’s about every club.
“It’s been something we’ve been working on for a while.
“We haven’t wanted to rush it, but because of the fact that we didn’t have a chief scout, I had to bring one in.
“Of course, his (Graham Carr’s) remit will to be to organise the scouting structure at the club, and I’ll be very much involved in that to try and take us forward.”
