Newcastle United have seen an initial £25m approach for Jack Harrison rejected by Leeds, 90min understands.
After spending big in January the Magpies have only made three signings so far this summer, making Matt Targett's loan move permanent on top of signing Sven Botman and Nick Pope.
However, as reported by 90min, Newcastle are keen to strengthen their attacking options after missing out on signing Hugo Ekitike this summer.
One of their targets is Harrison, and sources have indicated that the club have made an initial approach. Newcastle are said to have tabled a £25m bid, which was swiftly rejected by Leeds.
The Whites have already lost two key players in Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha this transfer window, and value Harrison at considerably more than £25m.
The player himself cast doubt over his future following his side's pre-season defeat to Aston Villa recently, responding: "we'll see what happens," when asked if he could leave the club.
Manager Jesse Marsch has since clarified the situation, claiming that Harrison had not meant to create speculation.
"I think Jack unintentionally brought attention to his situation," Marsch said. "[There is] always interest in our players but we feel strongly the guys within our group can help us to be successful and Jack is part of that. I know he is happy here."
