Jenas left Tyneside under a cloud, saying he had to get away because "Newcastle is like a goldfish bowl".
He left for London saying he couldn't walk around Newcastle city centre without someone patting him on the back.
Is that a bad thing? Is London better than the Toon? Alan Pardew hits back, saying his new French signings are fitting in very well.
Alan Pardew: “I’ve been really pleased with how they’ve integrated.
“I had those concerns (about team spirit) because when you’re bringing in players from whatever country – whichever nationality – there’s time for settling in.
“But I believe the North East is much, much easier to settle into than other places.
“It’s a warm place, even for myself – and I know I wasn’t particularly loved when I came here.
“Everywhere I’ve gone I’ve had a courteous welcome and the hospitality extended to me has been fantastic.
“There’s a niceness to it all.
“I can think of players at London clubs – it’s much more difficult there.
“People are colder and harsher; the environment is tougher for them to settle in.
“The city has helped them and the number of them has helped too.”
