Steve Caldwell played the full match for Scotland against Ireland at Hampden Park, but couldn’t prevent Bertie Vogts’ team losing 2-0. No Shay Given for Ireland, although Andy O’Brien made a 90th minute substitute appearance.
Wales, featuring Gary Speed and Craig Bellamy, extended their unbeaten run to nine matches with a 2-2 draw against Bosnia – Celtic’s John Hartson and Cardiff’s Robert Earnshaw with the goals.
Nikos Dabizas bucked the trend by playing the full 90 minutes and appearing on the winning side with Greece defeating Norway 1-0 thanks to a Sotiros Kyrgiakos.
