Chelsea defender John Terry has been banned for four matches and fined £220,000 following the conclusion of his four-day FA disciplinary hearing at Wembley on Thursday.
Terry was found guilty of charges relating to his fracas last season with QPR defender Anton Ferdinand, in which it was alleged he had used abusive words relating to Ferdinand's race.
Terry has been granted 14 days to appeal against the ruling, and he will be eligible to play for Chelsea while any appeal is pending, meaning the Blues skipper could face Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday.
The defender's representatives Elite Management Agency released a statement in the aftermath of the FA's verdict in which he admitted his disappointment at the decision.
Terry statement: "Mr. Terry is disappointed that the FA Regulatory Commission has reached a different conclusion to the clear not guilty verdict of a court of law.
"He has asked for the detailed written reasons of the decision and will consider them carefully before deciding whether to lodge an appeal."
